Expression of Interest (EoI) to Identify Advanced Manufacturing SMMEs and Non-SMMEs (Integrators or Sub-Systems Suppliers) to participate in the Sector-Wide Accreditation Programme

The Aerospace Industry Support Initiative (AISI) hereby invites interested companies to respond to a call for Eol for Sector-Wide Accreditation Programme.The AISI is a fully government-funded mechanism to support the local South African aeronautics, defence, space and other sector-wide advanced manufacturing industries.
The EoI is aimed at identifying applicants who are involved in sector-wide industry and who qualify as integrators or sub-systems suppliers or Small Medium Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) to participate in the AISI’s Sector-Wide Accreditation Programme.
The AISI’s Sector-Wide Accreditation Programme provides enabling mechanisms to assist the advanced manufacturing industry to improve its competitiveness, productivity, and quality management systems as well as open new markets and opportunities through support of relevant standards and accreditations.
The AISI selected two interventions to assist SMMEs as well as non-SMMEs companies (higher integrators or sub-systems suppliers) under the Sector-Wide Accreditation Programme.
The interventions are:

Standards and Accreditations
All projects or interventions to be supported must fall within one of the thematic areas listed below. The thematic areas selected are at the discretion of the AISI and are seen as those most relevant for technological advancement in the South African sector-wide.
These are:
• Metals and fabrication including mining related.
• Rail and automotive industries
• Energy
• Electronics
All technology projects should fall within one of the sectors mentioned above or should be contributing to one of the sectors. The final interventions to be supported will be approved by the AISI in consultation with the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition.
All projects supported through the technology enhancement intervention must be at a TRL value of 4 or higher at the start of the project. Preference will be given to higher TRL projects. Evidence of this will need to be provided with the application. Refer to Annexure A in the ToR document for the TRL definitions.
