8 March 2025
South Africa’s marine manufacturing and boating sectors gathered at the Royal Cape Yacht Club on Wednesday, 26 February 2025, for a Marine Industry Day, an event aimed at fostering collaboration and strengthening industry support.
Organised by the AISI in partnership with the South African Boat Builders Export Council (SABBEX), also known as Boating South Africa, the event brought together industry representatives, government stakeholders and current programme beneficiaries.
Attendees explored opportunities for growth and discussed support mechanisms offered by AISI. Presentations from existing beneficiaries highlighted how companies have leveraged support to expand operations, while an interactive session examined broader industry trends, collaboration opportunities and the development of local manufacturing capabilities.
Networking was a key feature, allowing participants to connect with industry leaders, programme administrators and fellow stakeholders to explore potential partnerships.
Organisers emphasised that initiatives like the industry day are designed to strengthen connections within the sector and raise awareness of programmes that help businesses innovate and grow. The gathering underlined the importance of coordinated efforts to boost the competitiveness of South Africa’s marine manufacturing industry both locally and internationally.
