The AISI provides support through three targeted programmes aimed at advancing technology development, enhancing supplier capabilities, achieving standards and accreditation, and fostering sector-wide collaboration to strengthen the country’s industrial base. Its programmes focus on integrating SMMEs into high-technology value chains, fostering innovation, facilitating skills transfer, and aligning industry growth with national economic priorities such as transformation, localisation, and export expansion.

  • Aerospace and Defence

    Aerospace and Defence Technology-Based Industry and Supplier Development Programme
    The AISI invites eligible advanced manufacturing companies to apply for participation in the Aerospace and Defence Technology-Based Industry and Supplier Development Programme. This call aims to identify aerospace and defence advanced manufacturing companies, including SMMEs and non-SMMEs, that will benefit from targeted interventions.

  • Marine

    Marine Technology Development and Accreditation Programme
    This EoI seeks to identify marine advanced manufacturing companies, including both SMMEs and non-SMMEs, for inclusion in AISI’s Marine Supplier Development Programme. The initiative provides financial and technical support aimed at enhancing capabilities, obtaining relevant accreditations, and facilitating integration into both local and global supply chains. This, in turn, improves competitiveness, productivity, and market access.

  • Sector-wide

    Sector-Wide Technology Development and Accreditation Programme
    The programme seeks applicants engaged in advanced manufacturing who meet the participation criteria. Eligible beneficiaries are current or potential system or component manufacturers, or service providers, who can leverage the support and resources offered by AISI.

 

The Aerospace Industry Support Initiative (AISI) is an intervention of the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic).

The AISI is designed to foster industrial development and competitiveness in the local South African aerospace, defence, marine, and other advanced manufacturing industries.
